Kaidia “Kailyssi" Nyrrassi I will fight injustice with justice. TAG: Open. WORDS: 296. NOTES: Yay, first post The sun was blistering as heat rolled off the land in waves. A golden eagle flew steadily, only beating its wings when she needed to turn sharply of gain altitude. Her head swiveled calmly as she spotted what she was looking for. Then the massive bird folded her wings and dropped only to unfold them at exactly the right time. Before she landed, Najaah unclenched her talons and dropped an impressively large rabbit right in front of a Marked leopardess.
Two large snakes also appeared with rodents in their jaws on either side of the leopardess. Though Ritesh had already started swallowing his meal. Zevan had more patience as he waited for his mother to eat with them, as did Najaah. Their mother smiled at her children and nodded encouragingly before turning her elegant head to her Marked companion, ”We too must find food soon. Our supply is running out rapidly and our water even faster.”
Kaidia sighed quietly, knowing that her next words would be uncomfortable for her companion to hear, ”Jorah, we have to get to a city. We can't continue like this. I should be feeding my pets not my pets feeding me.” Hunger and thirst were nothing knew to either Jorah or Kaidia. Not after thirteen years of constant running with little currency to buy the things they needed. Jorah was paranoid that the two were being followed by her father but they had yet to run into any assassins. Not unless her father had demanded the Guild not to kill them yet for some reason. Kaidia highly doubted that they had gone this long without being detected somehow. Suddenly, Kaidia was very tired and she laid down on the warm land. ”We will be fine Jorah, just like we always are.”

Alexon Skye Alex panted as they padded through the grassland. It was much hotter than the wolf was used to, and though their fur had thinned out a bit, there was little shade to protect from the heat of the direct sun. And their backpack didn't help much in the way of keeping them cool. It had been some time since they'd seen or spoken with another creature, beyond the necessary hunts that came with living alone in the wilderness. They watched as a golden eagle danced through the sky, and decided to follow it. It obviously wasn't a pet of their father, so they assumed there would be nothing to worry about. They couldn't tell at this distance if the bird was marked or not, but they figured there'd be no harm done either way. They flicked their ears, scanning for the sounds and scents nearby, and finally, they landed it. Then, just as they reached the top of a ridge, they saw the little pack of creatures they were headed toward. There was a pretty large bear and a leopard travelling together. The eagle dropped a rabbit in front of the leopard, so Alex assumed that they were either friends, or the eagle was her pet. They could also see two black snakes, though they couldn't quite make out the species. After a couple moments of watching the little group, they decided to make their presence known. Sneaking up on a pack of predators during a meal was never a good idea. "Hello!" They called, tail wagging and ears pricked forward. "How are you all?"Vera

Kaidia’s voice was clear like the sky as she said, ”We too must find food soon. Our supply is running out rapidly and our water even faster.”A pair of dark, intelligent eyes opened as the large beast beside Kaidia stirred. He turned his scarred muzzle to gaze upon his companion, his expression hard to read. The day had turned hot, sun washing over the plains, and Jorah’s fur had clumped with sweat and the grime of travel. He did not look at all the great warrior he’d once been, rather, the grizzly appeared the vagabond he was, all weather and care-worn. The prospect of a city was not a comfortable one for Jorah. He of all creatures knew that Kaidia’s father, Odon, had connections in cities across Paradiastole. Was he even still hunting them, or had he presumed they’d died after two of Jorah’s compatriots had turned on Kaidia and Jorah as he tried to protect her? Was the kingsguard and master of assassins even still alive? Jorah did not know. He no longer had the connections that had come with being one of Odon’s best. And with Kaidia to protect, he could not risk drawing attention to them in order to acquire more sources. As it stood, they trusted no one, slept in the wilderness or in small villages where their names would not be known. That was safest. “Aye, Kailyssi,” Jorah sighed softly. ”We cannot remain in the wilderness much longer, but it may be wiser to try for a smaller town. Big cities breed big gossipers, and it would not be to our advantage to tip your father off to our whereabouts.” The grizzly bear gritted his teeth, as he almost always did when he talked of Kaidia’s father. Odon had taken Jorah in, had tricked him into serving a false god and a false cause, but more than that, the monster had turned on innocents, his own family, had tried to kill Kaidia and had succeeded in killing her mother and brother. The idea that he’d served such a creature never sat well with Jorah. After healing from the wounds he received while protecting Kaidia, he’d pledged that the future would be different. He would serve only one beast and all he did would be for her sake - Kaidia’s. The sound of pawsteps drew his attention, and Jorah stood, his leather breastplate rubbing uncomfortably against his sweat-soaked fur as he lumbered forward, eyes narrowing at the stranger. The wolf did not look either intimidated or intimidating. “Hello!” the wolf called. “How are you all?”A simple greeting, but no amount of easygoingness would take Jorah off his guard. The grizzly squinted at the wolf and squared his shoulders, stepping to one side to put himself visibly between the newcomer and Kaidia. Jorah remained silent and only turned his head slightly so that he could share a look with Kaidia. He would leave it up to her whether she preferred to greet the stranger herself to have him do that much, respecting her right to handle the situation. Vera Word count: 493 |

Kaidia “Kailyssi" Nyrrassi I will fight injustice with justice. TAG: Lion, Janielove. WORDS: 328. NOTES: I almost forgot her abilities The young leopardess looked over at her companion, he looked very ragged and weather worn. He looked the same as she probably did, they were both tired. For over half of her life, Kaidia had been fleeing in fear. Her eyes swept over the scar on his muzzle that had happened with Jorah fighting to save her thirteen years ago. Had it really been that long? Kaidia listened carefully to her friend and Guardian carefully. What Jorah was saying had much truth to the words. It would be wiser to find a smaller town than a large city.
"You speak wisdom, my friend. Do you..." The leopardess' ears pricked and swiveled, Kaidia moved her head to towards the sound just she made out the greeting. Ritesh was already moving to put himself between the wolf and herself, his head raising higher as his mouth opened to reveal the blackness for which the species was named. Zamar was more cautious and Najaah didn't move at all. Kaidia was just getting a good look when Jorah's massive brown form deliberately moved in between Kaidia and the wolf.
Being a powerful empath, she didn't need to see the newcomer to sense his emotions. Her telepathy only worked when she was touching others and the gift was much stronger with Unmarked. Kaidia tried to understand what this wolf was feeling. For some reason, she couldn't quite tell, it was like there was a very thin layer of something in the way. Deciding to take matters into her own hands and now curious, Kaidia stepped a few steps away so she could see the wolf again, "Hello. We are thirsty at the moment. And yourself?" The wolf was still a bit far away, maybe that's why she couldn't feel what he was feeling? "We are kind of lost actually." Kaidia hated lying, even little white lies like this. Technically, she was lost but she was sure that Jorah knew exactly where they were.

Alexon Alex had caught the tail end of their conversation. They needed to get to a city. But why? It wasn't the wolf's place to ask questions. When the bear advanced, the wolf took a few steps back, realizing that perhaps this hadn't been the best plan. They were getting the feeling that the leopard ran the show, though, and when she spoke up, directly to them, they took a few steps forward again, slightly to the side so as to keep plenty of distance between themself and the massive bear. They took in the scene before they spoke again. Any one of these creatures could kill them easily, but they weren't sure how much they really cared. How much of a tragedy would it really be if their life was cut a bit short? But no, there was Nehrune, her promises as gentle as the butterfly, the form she so often preferred to take. They could almost hear her whispered, gentle promises of a life worth living, and could feel the easing of their spirit. And so they took a deep breath. "About the same," they called, tail wagging as a friendly gesture. "I was actually hoping to find some water. Though, clearly, it doesn't seem to be around here. I've been hopping from tree clump to tree clump, but most of the water seems to be underground."Lion Vera

Jorah’s fur prickled at Kaidia’s words, mostly incensed at the claim that they were lost. The bear was no native to Atheraan, that was true, but he had studied star maps as a cub and had a map of this countryside tucked into his breastplate, besides. Still, he couldn’t deny the fact that his map did not, perhaps unsurprisingly, list every small town from the plains to the southern city of Chendri or the northern wastes. While the wolf seemed friendly enough, Jorah did not relax. He couldn’t afford to relax. He’d lived among assassins, trained among them, and he knew they were clever and could conceal much behind a smile. The grizzly might be willing to bargain against the wolf being a threat when it was his own life on the line, but he would take no chances with Kaidia’s. “The nearest natural source of water is likely the sea itself, which would not suit our purposes,” Jorah murmured softly, his voice rumbling in his chest. He saw Kaidia moving to one side, trying to get a better look at the wolf, and Jorah did not stop her. He knew that she had a way of understanding others, of tapping into their intentions, as he never would. While he’d accepted Nehrune as his goddess thanks to Kaidia, his blessings were still the Sun’s, returned to him after he turned away from the path of Death. If Kaidia thought she could get a read of this wolf, and she trusted her instinct, he would follow her lead, as always. Vera Janielove Word count: 262 |

Kaidia “Kailyssi" Nyrrassi I will fight injustice with justice. TAG: Lion, Janielove WORDS: 385. NOTES: If it's ok with you, Janie, the reason why Alex has a barrier is because Kaidia has never come across someone who didn't identify with their biological gender. It's confusing her basically. Kaidia was calm as she listened to what the wolf was saying. She still couldn't get passed the almost filmy type barrier that was protecting this wolf's emotions. Suddenly curious, Kaidia wondered if that barrier would hold if she touched him. But Jorah and her pets would panic if she did something so bold. Kaidia did need to get closer though, he kept backing away from them which was understandable; she would too if a large snake with a black mouth and a massive grizzly bear were threatening her. Kaidia made a decision.
She moved back to where she had been, directly behind Jorah and ever so slightly brushed Ritesh, Peace, Ritesh, calm down please. In the same few seconds, Ritesh immediately became docile again, eyes still on the wolf. Kaidia also lightly brushed Jorah with her tail as she walked to the other side of him, I can't get a reading on him. Something is blocking his emotions from me. And I'm sorry if I offended you about being lost, I know that you are never lost. The wolf doesn't need to know that yet. As Kaidia came back into view while rubbing her face along Jorah's brown fur affectionately and in silent apology for offending him.
Now it was time to move, without any fear, Kaidia started walking confidently toward the wolf. She spoke as she did so, so that he wouldn't get frightened. As she got closer, she noticed the gold and purple eye. That sold her, "I hope you don't mind that I'm getting a little bit closer to you. I was having a little difficulty understanding you, sir. How long have you been traveling alone for?" The closer she got, the less the film barrier had an impact; it was still there for some reason. "Basic necessities are needed by all equally. If you mean us no harm, then you are free to travel with us until we all have our basic needs met by a small town or even a farmer willing to help." The leopardess was sure that Jorah wouldn't mind stopping by a farm instead of a small town or large city to get water and food. He'd probably prefer it that way. Kaidia smiled at the wolf, already feeling his friendliness despite the mysteries surrounding him.

Zara Talmeedah had been wandering for several days. She stopped to eat and drink whenever she could. After a while, though, her supplies dwindled down to only a mere mouthful of nuts and a few drops of water in a rucksack she carried on her back. She was holding a well-worn staff of natural, raw, unfinished wood. It might appear to be a long, sturdy-looking branch from an ancient tree. She was wearing her rough-looking homespun tunic, breeches and a hooded cloak Zrelluna Plains was the next place she passed through. It was certainly a sharp contrast to the female black gorilla's birthplace. Where the Kharin Jungle had many trees heavy with jungle fruit, these Plains had only sparse growth, such as dried-out grass. As Zara walked along, she saw a number of others already there. Her soft, kindly brown eyes looked upon a leopardess, a bear, a wolf and a rather large snake with a black mouth. Unable to contain her curiousity, Zara cautiously approached those gathered, then stopped two feet away from them. "A hale and hearty greeting to you (all of them). I am Zara Talmeedah, a student searching for knowledge. If I may ask...what are your names?" Her voice was warm, friendly, respectful and polite. Tag: Vera, Lion , Janielove

Alexon Alex watched carefully as the leopard seemed to calm her companions. "No, the water of the sea won't be much good for us." They looked at the leopard. "She could probably process it in a pinch, being a feline, but the two of us definitely couldn't." The wolf sat, their ocean blue eyes locked on the pack of predators. Then, the leopardess began to approach. She didn't seem to have any ill intentions. "No, I don't mind. Come as close as you need." They studied her approach, seeking out the marks they knew she much certainly would find. They found the black feather mark on her ankle first, which made them slightly nervous, but then they found the rose and the eye. It was certainly an interesting combination. But if she had the eye, then they felt fairly safe in the assumption that she wasn't gonna attack them for no reason. "I certainly mean you no harm. I've been by myself off and on for, oh, about two years. I'd be happy to travel with you all, if you and your companions feel alright about it, but I would hate to impose." They then eyed the snakes and gave the leopardess a smile. " And I'd hate to, uh, wake up to a snake bite," they added good humoredly. They spun around at the approach of the gorilla. She seemed friendly, but didn't seem to have a great understanding of personal space. They took a few steps back, then sat again. "Hello there, Zara, seeker of truth. I'm Alex."Lion Vera mrsrper

Though the grizzly kept his eyes on the newcomer as Kaidia walked around him, he was always aware of her position, watching her with all senses save sight as she calmed her snakes and then brushed his side with her tail. He relaxed a little, understanding through her touch her intention. Jorah trusted Kaidia’s judgment, for all her youth, and though he watched cautiously as she approached the wolf, he did not move to stop her or put himself between them. Rather, he stood ready to move at a moment’s notice, the heat of his inner fire tingling along his skin as he prepared himself to react should the wolf make any wrong moves towards Kaidia. Jorah’s eyes narrowed as Kaidia bluntly stated an invitation for this stranger to join them. He did not think it wise to travel with others, unless being on their own would be even more conspicuous than traveling in a pack. However, Jorah would allow Kaidia to make the decision. This had been the way of things since he had pledged himself as Guardian over his young companion. It had never been Jorah’s prerogative to lead, but he could see in Kaidia that she was born to do so. In a way, it was her birthright, daughter of such a capable commander as Odon. And Jorah had no doubt she would surpass her father as a leader in every respect, except perhaps cruelty or ruthlessness. Kaidia was a rare combination - a natural ruler, gifted with the confidence and competence required to attract others to her cause, and yet she had a kind heart above all. As Kaidia drew closer to the wolf, another creature entered their midst, this one a gorilla bearing a staff and wearing a simple, rough tunic. She stood quite close to Kaidia and the wolf, which caused Jorah to take a few steps forward, his self control the only thing keeping his hackles from raising and his voice from lowering into a growl. He did not attack, of course, or threaten, but merely stood close to Kaidia, his eyes trained on the two strangers. Named, though they were, he still did not trust their intentions, but as always left it for Kaidia to address them. She tended to have a much more soothing effect on others than the gruff old warrior at her side, in any event. Vera Word count: 396 |

Kaidia “Kailyssi" Nyrrassi I will fight injustice with justice. Kaidia listened to the wolf's words and couldn't help but let out a giggle as well as a smile. His eyes were a beautiful color, very much like the oceans with which they were speaking of. The confidence and boldness never left Kaidia but she could feel her body relaxing, placing trust in this strange creature before her. "I definitely would not like the taste though." The leopardess stated with slight humor in her voice.
She acknowledged the wolf's acceptance of her approach with a nod. As she saw more about him, he too saw more about her. Kaidia noticed his eyes flick across all three of her marks. His heartbeat spiked for a second or two as his ocean colored eyes noticed Death's faded Mark. Once again Kaidia acknowledged his words with a nod, "Peace, good sir, you need not fear me unless you mean harm to my family and then it's really them you need to fear, not little me. Do not fear the feather, it's faded and I have never truly served my birth God. I seek to right wrongs and give justice who do not have anyone to speak for them." Though Kaidia couldn't help but doubt herself slightly simply because what good could they really do when they were constantly fleeing a threat they didn't even know existed.
Kaidia giggled again, her eyes warming up even more. There was no way this wolf would mean them harm, "It's ok. Ritesh and Zamar won't harm you unless I tell them to. Najaah as well." By the time she finished speaking, the leopardess noticed the gorilla approaching.
She immediately picked up on her emotions. Kaidia glances at Jorah and gave a quick nod of approval even though the gorilla's sudden appearance was startling. Though a born queen was never to appear that way, so Kaidia dipped her head in greeting. "Welcome, Zara. I am Kaidia and my guardian is Jorah. The others are Unmarked pets." Of course they weren't just pets to her but Zara and the wolf (whose name was Alex apparently) did not need to know that.

Alexon Alex chuckled. "Oh no, for sure. Salt water is nasty." They stuck their tongue out and shook their head for effect, then gave her a wink. Their tail was wagging happily. This interaction was going really well.
"No, don't worry. I mean no harm to any of you. And I don't fear death, and I don't fear Mrithun, I only fear those who interpret his existence as a reason to kill without hesitation. I have known many." They glanced up over her shoulder, studying her companions briefly. "A noble cause, for sure," they replied finally with a dip of their head. "If I can be of any assistance at all, I'd be happy to help."
Their face brightened up when she giggled. The sound made them happy. It wasn't one they had heard often, and usually, the laughter they had heard in the past was cruel and mocking, or in the case of the chaotic coyote pack they'd stayed with, destructive and excited. This sound was pure and happy, joy at the expense of no other. They took note of the names. Zara was the gorilla, Kaidia was the leopardess, Jorah was the bear, and then there were Ritesh, Zamar, and Najaah, and Alex wasn't sure which was which. "Yes, Alexon Skye."

As the three other creatures conversed, Jorah remained silent, listening with his eyes narrowed and his senses alert. The grizzly watched the interaction between Alex and Kaidia especially closely, his instincts telling him to be wary. Of course, it was natural for animals to be drawn to Kaidia—Jorah understood that better than most. As long as those creatures behaved themselves, the grizzly left them alone, but he was cautious when it came to his ward. With the world’s finest and deadliest assassins possibly on their trail, he would have to be to keep them both alive. “You are both far from home, I think, unless I judge incorrectly. Are your travels taking you to a particular destination?” Jorah asked, keeping his tone neutral and low. His expression did not invite any questions to be asked of him, even as he slowly turned his head and inclined it towards Kaidia. He hoped she would see there was little wisdom in traveling with strangers under such circumstances, but if she did not, then he expected to be getting very little sleep in the upcoming days. Very little sleep indeed. Vera Janielove mrsrper OOC: Sorry it’s so short, Jorah is a beast of few words lol. Word count: 189 |

Alexon Alex studied the bear before answering. Saying the wrong thing could get the wolf killed, but lying would be a terrible idea, and could also get them killed. They weren't sure why, but they felt that this bear was very dangerous. He was clearly very protective of the leopardess, and didn't trust strangers at all, which implied that something had happened to one of them, or both, at some point. The feline seemed to be comfortable enough around Alex, but they could tell the bear definitely was not. "Just travelling to be travelling, to see new places and be of service wherever I can be," they finally replied levelly, but not in an unfriendly way. They dipped their head to the leopardess, showing that they would submit if she decided to draw closer yet. "I won't deny that I'm running from a bad situation, but I don't think it'll catch up to me, and if it does, I promise not to drag you two into it." Their words were soft, but they were honest, and Alex hoped it wouldn't be enough for the pair to kick the wolf to the curb. "If you have any other questions for me, I will answer, as honestly as possible."Vera Lion

Realizing her *faux pas*, Zara backed away from the others while still trying to face them. When she was five feet away from all of them she said with sincere consternation in her voice:
"A thousand-thousand pardons! Please forgive me! I was so excited to see others on my journey that I got...a little over excited. I didn't mean any impropriety."
Her following question had a tone of contriteness. She was really and truly apologetic: "Er...would such worthy ones allow a lowly one like myself to accompany them?"
