GENERAL RULES
01. Be respectful of staff and peers. This is really important. Please show consideration towards other members. No one likes to have to deal with someone who is not respectful when we are all just trying to enjoy each other's creativity through our writing.
02. We are a PG-13 site. This is a requirement of Proboards. We are a fade-to-black site with anything regarding sexual relations. Please use your discretion regarding violence or gore and keep it within the PG-13 rating.
03. Be respectful in the C-Box as well. The C-Box will be heavily enforced when it comes to this rule. A lot of the time, it's the C-box that guests see first. Let's all be welcoming and polite and give off a good impression to others!
04. Please limit the use of bad language. Since there could be minors that are either members on this site or viewing the site, let's show some professionalism with our choices of wording. Especially in the C-box. In-character cursing is more acceptable, simply because there are going to be rough-and-tough characters in this world that we have created. However, we would prefer you use phrases like "he swore under his breath" in place of actual swear words.
05. Everyone is accepted and welcome! We want to make sure that everyone feels welcome here, regardless of age, race, sexual preferences, or religion.
06. We are a one account per RPer site. This means that you only have to create one account. The name that you give this account should be the name you wish to go by on the site and cbox. So no weird names with numbers or dashes or any special characters.
07. We have no word count. You may post whatever you wish, either a paragraph or a few paragraphs. All we ask is that you be considerate and give your thread partner(s) something to reply to.
08. In the event any disagreements arise, please bring it to the staff's attention. If you have a disagreement with a staff member, please bring it directly to Vera. <I>(Vera will not break anyone's confidentiality, even to other staff members.)
09. Liquid time is allowed, but keep it realistic. For example, don't set a thread in a different IC month from the one we are in.
10. No spamming the chat or forums. Keep the IC threads separate from OOC threads.
11. No advertising in inappropriate areas of the site. I.e. don't spam the chat saying, "Check out my website," and don't message fellow members to join a different site. Advertising should be done in the Advertisement board only.
12. If you are going to be absent for a while, please let one of the staff know just so you don't accidentally be considered inactive. Posting in the Absence board will ensure that your characters' positions will also not be challenged during your specified absence.
13. Activity checks will be carried out monthly in order to prune inactive accounts. The activity checks will take place on the 1st of every month. If you miss two consecutive activity checks, your accounts will be considered inactive.
14. Please mark threads appropriately. There are several tags you can use:

15. Ensure that your characters do not Meta-game. Meta-gaming is when your character knows something he or she shouldn't realistically know, such as a name he hasn't been told or a secret another character has withheld from everyone.
16. Please don't use chat speak in posts. We should all want to put effort into making our posts engaging and fun as well as easy to read.

CHARACTER RULES
01. Characters must be accepted before appearing in the IC boards. Each character's application must be completely filled out and accepted by a staff member before you can post with them.
02. There is no character limit! There will never be a character limit on this site. Feel free to have as many characters as you can keep active. However, there are posting requirements for group leader positions, to keep those leadership roles active for the group's members.
03. No God-modding or power playing please. In other words, you cannot harm another players' character without their permission or make the character say/do anything not agreed to by their writer, and you cannot make your character invincible or flawless. Every character has flaws that should be explored.
04. All species of animals are allowed. This includes all prey, predators, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and aquatic creatures. Yes, you can make a mouse, a dog, a flamingo, a turtle, a frog, and/or a clown fish. (If you seriously wish to make an insect or bug, PM staff for permission.)
05. Characters can have different colored eyes. Though different skin, fur, feather, or scale patterns need to be bought from the Shop.
06. Characters can have pets. These pets are generally Unmarked animals. Unmarked can also act as servants and slaves though it would be the equivalent of expecting your dog or cat to be a slave. So servants and slaves are usually Marked/Blessed who get captured by a group.
07. No mythological or extinct creatures at this time. We would really like to see the world flourish with regular animals first. We will be allowing these creatures at a later time.
08. It is highly recommended that characters believe in the gods. The Gods and Goddesses of Paradiastole play a major role on this site. It is the blessing of these gods that allows your characters to talk with each other, to fashion weapons and armor, and to build and create.. If you choose to have a character not believe in a god, then that character will not have a voice or intelligence on the same level as everyone else, and they will be exempt from any particular talents bestowed by the gods' blessings. Think of it this way - in a world where the gods physically appear to their followers and bless them with great powers, it would be a very foolish sapient creature indeed that would deny their existence.
09. Characters are allowed to have Gifts from the gods. Each character can have up to 2-3 gifts. Beings characters can follow more than one god, these gifts can be chosen from any of the gods that each character follows. Rare gifts are usually not given to a brand new character, rather earned through IC and/or bought from the Shop.
10. Character ages are similar to humans. Most animals have had their lifespans lengthened by the gods. The average life span is between 50-70 years. This includes animals that have a normally very short life, like mice and rabbits. Though animals with naturally long lives, like whales and tortoises, can live up to 100 years or longer.
11. No youngsters or babies can be created at this time. To incorperate the age range; a baby character would be from 0-5 months of age. A youngster would be from 6-11 months of age. This age limitation applies to all species.
12. Teenage characters can be made. A teenage character would be from ages 1-2.
13. When you complete your application, please tag one or all of the admins so that we'll know it's ready to be reviewed. You can use the @ symbol followed by admin, Lion, and/or Flameh to tag us and we will be notified your application is ready to be looked at.
14. Characters under the age of 2 years old are able to be claimed and cared for by any group with a territory.
15. Characters at least 1 year old are allowed to mate, but can only start to breed at the age of 2.
16. Characters younger than 6 months old must have a mother or protector in order to survive. If no mother is found within 3 weeks, then the character will die.
GROUP RULES
01. There is no limit on how many leader animals you may have. This rule is in place so that those wishing to have a multiple-leader type of group (like a democracy) can do so without having to give up the leadership of their previous group.
02. However, for every leader-type character you make, you must have 2 regular characters. A regular character would be a character that is part of another member's group, but ultimately not responsible for making decisions on how that group is to function. You may also create a ‘free’ character, meaning a character that does not wish to be part of any group, but has an occupation in society (blacksmith, thief, etc.).
03. It is strongly encouraged that most characters are part of a group. A character roaming around the world alone will be more likely to be hurt or preyed upon. They also will have fewer opportunities to interact with other players' characters and plots, and we want to make sure all of your characters have ample opportunities to be involved!
04. Group structures can be as diverse as you like! A group can be a democracy, a monarchy, a religious order (for a god or goddess), a pack, a clan, a tribe, a guild, etc. A group can even be made secret if you wish. You may also make a group that serves a militant function or is crew for ships (like a pirate or naval ship crew).
05. On COD both male and females can rule, regardless of species. Here, the areas are referred to as Groups. The leader can be referred to as however they wish and can also change rank names if they wish.
06. Anyone can claim a Pre-made Group/Kingdom/Empire/Tribe and set it up however they wish. We will be filling these Groups first.
07. To create an Group there are a few rules that must be met.
[*] Your character must be the age of 2 before he can officially rule.
[*] Your character must have 20 posts before you can create an Group.
[*] There must be 3 characters willing to join the Group. (By at least 3 different people/members).
[*] The character must officially claim the land by either roaring, screaming, scent marking, etc.
08. Once all the conditions are met you can create a Group. You can only have 2 Leaders and 1 Co leader. No more unless bought from the Shop.
09. Characters have 24 hours to challenge the claim to the land. If you win the challenge and the Group is created, then you cannot be challenged until 2 weeks have passed.
10. After the initial 2 weeks after a Group being created, you can be challenged again. After being challenged you get 1 week of peace until somebody can challenge you again.
11. Once your Group has been created, you must create a thread detailing your Group's laws, politics, ranks and anything else. These threads will be placed under the board (or sub-board) that you are claiming.
12. You can expand your Group as much as you like. However you must have an additional 3 characters join your Group before you do so and your character has to of been to the Group you wish to expand.
13. If you lose members and no longer have the members required to keep your Group, then you will have a week to regain the members that are required otherwise the Group will lose one area. If the Group only has one area then it will be disbanded.
14. Anyone can challenge a Leader for their Group as long as they have 20 posts and are 2 years of age.
POWER RULES
01. Every character starts out as a Fledgling and must work to achieve mastery over their power.
02. Every "stage" includes multiple potential skills for your characters to learn. Each training thread could introduce a new skill within your chosen power tree, however you may only select 2 of the 3 offered skills for any power tree.
Example: A Fledgling Pyromancer may choose the skills "Heat" during one training thread, and "Fire Resistant" in another, but this means that they will not be able to learn the "Heat Sensitive" skill under the Fledgling Pyromancer tree.
03. To 'Level Up' in a power, your character must have training threads showing the characters using, learning, and understanding their powers:
[*]Apprentice to Adept - 4 complete threads (with at least 6 character posts each)
[*]Adept to Master - 6 complete threads (with at least 8 character posts each)
[*]Master to Grandmaster - at least 8 complete threads (with at least 12 character posts each)
04. Remember that using powers will cause a character to tire. Overuse can result in the user passing out due to exhaustion. Abusing some powers may have other dire consequences.
05. Typically, by the time a character has reached an Adept level, they can start training other characters. This will help make it a bit easier to meet the requirements for higher levels.
06. Characters may learn additional powers after their first by acquiring a Divine Blessing. Depending on which deity they seek a Blessing from, they will have access to gaining a new power tree associated with that god or goddess. To gain a Divine Blessing, a god or goddess may require the character to complete a ritual or quest. It may also require a character to travel to that god or goddess' temple.
Note: With each new power tree a character acquires, they must start learning skills at the Fledgling level.
BREEDING RULES
01. Breeding and birthing can happen in any season.
02. Characters the age of 1.75 can breed. However breeding is more successful at the age of 2 years and older. Characters under the age of 1.75 may mate with no chance of children.
03. Children must be the age of 1 year old before the mother can breed again. However the father may breed at anytime he wishes.
04. Inbreeding is allowed however there is an increased risk of deformities unless you buy a potion which guarantees none or go and speak to the God of Fate and she may aid you.
05. Graphic breeding is forbidden! Fade to black please.
06. Force breeding is allowed however it requires a battle (unless members agree ahead of time). The Victim can and may escape if not caught within the player's chosen time limit.
07. Characters can adopt any species they wish as long as they are under 2 years of age and own a Group.
08. If the children are born and do not have roleplayers within 3 weeks, then the children will die.
09. If two partners go visit the Goddess of Love, she may initiate special breeding by taking the DNA of two partners and fusing them to create a child. This method of breeding can be used to breed same sex genders. It can also be used to breed any two animals that cannot naturally breed in the wild. This breeding however requires a Special Breeding pass.
FIGHTING RULES
01. A fight can start anywhere at anytime. However do not start fights for OC reasons.
02. A fight can start for almost any reason as long as it makes sense. For example a character who is Lawful Evil could start a fight for being disrespected.
03. Characters cannot enter more than one battle in multiple threads. This means 1 fight per thread per character.
04. We do have Battle Settings for each character to specify how they view forcebreeding, maiming, and killing. Please refer to the Battle Setting for more information.
05. A character can become a slave, hostage or anything the winner desires by force if the character loses. However they can attempt to escape. If there is no reply within 48 hours the escape is successful.
06. Wars and Raids between Groups can and will happen here. During these events it is likely characters may die. There is a risk of a Leader dying, and if there isn't anyone to take over, the Group will be disbanded.
SPIRIT RULES
01. Once a character dies, they can become a spirit and travel around the spirit world. They can interact with the living, talk to them and provide information. They know everything that is going on while in the spirit world. Spirits lose their powers from when they were alive and Spirits cannot possess nor kill characters.
