Identifying Features || His ears are ragged at the edges from slaves and slavemasters who fought him, and his feet and lower legs are scarred for the same reason.  He has the sun of the sun god on the inside of his right ear, and the blue lighting bolt of the storm god on the inside of his left ear


Clothing || He has a large pack that he often carries across his shoulders, and he always has quite a large sum of money in it.  He has several different sorts of packs and sometimes pulls a large wagon to sell good off of, or a cart to haul slaves in.  He also has chains for bringing in particularly unruly slaves



Weapons || He's stronger than most creatures, he doesn't particularly need one, but he usually carries a club or a sword if travelling to particularly nasty areas





the personality

Overall || Preston is a notorious slave trader.  Except, he doesn't appear to have ever traded away a slave.  He is just constantly buying them up, the unruly ones, the broken down ones, the young ones, the old ones, it doesn't matter.  No one knows why he buys them, what he does, or how many he has.  Some creatures have tried to follow him, but only he, his mate, and his slaves know what goes on behind the massive gates that shut his estate off from the rest of the world.  The slaves themselves never really seem to come back out, and no one is even really sure how large his estate is.

Some robbers tried to break in, once, after hearing of his massive wealth.  Low-value slaves have been sent, high- value slaves, no one has ever come back.  Sometimes, Preston can be seen just stealing slaves that are being abused.  "If you can't get 'em to work properly, I'll take 'em of your hands," he'll grumble, and snatch them away.  He usually leaves some coins behind, and sets the creature on his back, or chains the animal to his leg, or sets it in his cart, then lumbers away.  Most creatures know not to retaliate at this point, after the elephant severely wounded a few creatures who attacked him.

In truth, Atlas is a gentle, peaceful soul, though only his mate and his slaves know this.  His massive estate is dotted in cottages and cabins and so on, and all of the slaves he has bought or stolen live there peacefully.  He has enough wealth to go around, and makes sure that everyone has enough to eat and care for themselves, but it's really quite the community.  Some are skilled at healing, some at farming or gardening, some t building, and if there are other needs, Atlas pays someone to come in to fix it and pays them more to keep their mouth shut.  The creatures he technically owns are free to come and go, but many of them have been slaves all their lives and prefer to stay where they know they'll be safe.  A few slaves have left, contrary to popular belief, but only after healing and coming back to themselves, and at that point, they're basically unrecognizable.

Hometown || Atlas was raised in Qarys, near the Eryl river on the border between the Resian plains and the Vershiva forest, though he and his mate now travel Atheraan and Nimeole, and the rest of the world, regularly 


History || Atlas's grandfather was a very wealthy slave trader.  He and his father were expected to continue along that path, so Atlas's mother moved away with him to Qarys, hoping he wouldn't grow up that way. Atlas's father tried to keep up the business, and did for a while, but finally he couldn't stomach it any longer.  So he tried to find the last of his inventory decent homes, and invested the money.  His father was killed after refusing to sell a few of his slaves to a notoriously abusive household in The Kingdom Between the Twins, and Atlas, enraged, killed the creatures responsible.  Then, he realized that that made the slaves and the estate his responsibility, as there was no further family.  So he sold the estate, moved to his grandfather's estate with the slaves, and decided to become a home for them.  Slaves know that the elephant known as Atlas will help them if they need somewhere to go, but few slaves know that Preston is Atlas
