THE OLD GODS
Name: The Averyn
Pronunciation: Ah-vare-in
Background: It is said that the Old Gods were the First, those who existed before time began. They gave birth to the gods and goddesses who took on corporeal form to create and to bring life. The Old Gods, jealous of their offsprings’ creations, sought to corrupt what their children had made. This led to the Downfall, the great battle between gods, and with the defeat of the Old Gods came the birth of the twins, Life/Earth and Death. Life was the epitome of Creation, the Artist who represented all her mother the Moon envisioned for the corporeal world they’d created with its endless skies. Death came as a result of the destruction of the Old Gods. As their blood dripped upon Moon’s skin, their taint became a part of her and her son, and so Death came to represent the End that precluded the Beginning.
There are some whispers, untold stories that none know the truth of, that say not all of the Old Gods perished in the war. Some say the Old Gods became the Undying Ones, the creatures of magic and mystery that inhabit Paradiastole to this day. Others say the Undying Ones are merely pawns of the Old Gods, their servants even after they've vanished from all realms of gods and Creation.

The Sun, Death’s father, refused to breathe life into these twisted creatures, but Death’s mother, the Moon, was sympathetic to her son and breathed life into her son’s false creations. These creations often act in helping him perform his duties. One of his duties include ferrying souls to the God or Goddess that each soul longed to be with most.
Death does not often give gifts to mortals, and he has few truly dedicated followers. The gifts that he does give include complete silence in their movements and the ability to disappear in the shadows/darkness. To keep the Star’s remains close to him, the Storm god spread her remains across his skies, and in the dark of night her spirit would shine along with those of her followers to bring light alongside her sister, the Moon.
The Storm god’s gifts have two distinct natures. Some of his gifts are nurturing, gifts that give the power to grow and heal, but many more gifts from the Storm are gifts of power and violence, which reflect his tormented nature. Some who receive his gifts can call up storms or lightning.

Many animals value the blessing of the Smith god, for his gifts are those of creativity and wonder. Though her body was destroyed, the Star goddess’ spirit lives on. She has very little power, so she does not bless her followers as others gods or goddesses might, but she does speak to her followers through her remains and allows their spirits to join her as Stars in death. She sends visions of the future and past to her followers in an effort to spread her Truth. Some of her Blessed are given the Sight, or the ability to see omens and futures of those around them, but this is a very rare gift, as the Star Goddess does not have a great deal of power with which to bless her followers.

Played by: Vera
Family: Daughter to the Sun and Moon. Older sister to the Earth and Death.
Background: The first born to the Sun and the Moon, the Sea has always felt entitled. She was the first to be on Paradiastole and the first to start creating her own creations. When her siblings, Earth/Life and Death, were born she was excited. Until their mother started to show favor to the twins. Annoyed that she was now forced to share her creations with both, the Sea started fighting back, stopping Earth from growing and trying to stop Death from taking her creations. Their mother and father got angry at the sibling rivalry and demanded order. The Moon started only allowing her eldest daughter to push so far while the Sun used his heat to calm her.
Over the years, the Sea now knows that fighting is useless to a point and has since focused on her creations. Though she still has tendrils (rivers) and spots (lakes) clawed into her sister and spy creations that are both Earth and Sea.
The Sea’s gifts are much like Storm's, nurturing or violent. She can give very powerful healing gifts or gifts of charisma. Her harsher gifts can include abilities of water control.

Family: Daughter to the Sun and Moon. Younger Sister to the Sea. Twin of Death.
Background: The Earth goddess was born after her sister, the Sea, and she claimed much of her sister’s domain in order to create and to bring life to the mortal realm. Her sister, angry at Earth for claiming part of her mortal plane, lashed out against her sister’s creation, wearing at it and eroding her sister’s shores over many years. Earth allowed her sister to shape her creation without protest. Her concerns were for the life she and her mother the Moon shaped together and into which her father the Sun breathed life and imbued with his fire.
Possessing the power of life and healing, her gifts are ones given to those with compassionate hearts and peaceful goals. She is against violence in any forms, and therefore stands at odds with some of her family. Most of Earth’s gifts are gifts of healing or nurturing, and she will often revoke them if they are used for violent or selfish purposes. Some of her powers include the gift to grow or manipulate plant life, but these are rare gifts that are given only to those she deems worthy.

The daughter of Love and Death, Mercy is among all the gods and goddesses most concerned with the souls of their creations, with right and wrong, goodness and evil, and the balance between them. Some say her parents’ natures, so opposed, created a goddess obsessed with the balance of those natures.
Mercy’s gifts are often gifts of inner peace and serenity to tormented souls. She has a great deal of concern for the fate of souls, and this means she does not often bestow gifts on individuals. If someone who is just and kind comes along and catches her attention, she may grant them a gift to know the thoughts or feelings of others and judge their natures as few others could.
