Kito Ehkari"You go for a man hard enough and fast enough, he don't have time to think about how many's with him; he thinks about himself, and how he might get clear of that wrath that's about to set down on him.” - True Grit

Identifying Features || Kito has long, dark fur mottled with white, brown, and black spots. He’s large compared to other wild dogs, with incredibly long legs and powerful shoulders built up by a long, hard life. His throat and left jaw are scarred and the fur has grown back thin after a deep wound. The scars are only noticeable up close. He has red-brown eyes.
Clothing || Kito prefers to wear thick, warm clothes. He often wears trousers, as well, which are more uncommon articles of clothing, but he tends to get cold in the northlands, and more clothing means more places to hide weapons.
Weapons || Kito carries a few slender daggers on his person at all times, and also has a satchel filled with throwing stars and other weapons that help him in his line of work. He tends not to favor longer, heavier weapons because they slow him down and impede him while running.
the personality
Overall || Most creatures who know Kito honestly don’t know much about him. He’s a quiet sort, keeps himself to himself, and always gets a job done, which is the only thing that matters to most of the creatures he associates with. He's known for his speed and incredible reflexes, his skill always speaking louder than his social presence. Despite his profession, however, Kito is not a cruel creature. He is more compassionate than he seems at first. Though he works hard to put on a cold exterior, he’s gentle and kind on the inside. It’s one of the reasons he only accepts certain contracts and refuses to go for bounties on innocents who haven’t done wrong. Kito never talks about himself, or his family, preferring to live in the present.
When it comes to his gender, Kito doesn't really care what others see him as. He easily recognizes the fact that he is biologically female, and is fine with others addressing him as such, but he prefers to introduce himself as a male, as that's how he sees himself.

History || Kito and his sisters, Jezzi and Kehrsa, were born to a wealthy slave trader, Taaz Ehkari, and Kerida, one of his many slave mistresses. Taaz accepted the three pups as his own, taking them away from their mother and giving them to his mate, Lydia, to nurse alongside their son, Maihan. Taaz then sold Kerida to another master, and she died under that master’s service, some said of a broken heart at the loss of her children. Kito never truly had a chance to meet her.
Growing up, Kito, Jezzi, and Kehrsa had many privileges, including education, martial training, and more refined lessons in how to speak, act, and entertain. Taaz frequently spoke to them of their worth to him as daughters; they were to attract mates that would bring business and connections to their father, thus making his and Lydia’s “investment” in raising them worth the effort. But as Jezzi and Kehrsa grew in beauty and refinement, their sister seemed to grow only in size. It became clear that Kito would never be a great feminine beauty, nor did she possess the sort of grace that would attract a wealthy mate. Her father would say things about how ugly she was, and how she would have made a better son. Hearing it enough, Kito began to hate herself, and her body, not understanding why she couldn’t be beautiful and feminine like her sisters or have at least been born male.
Maihan was one of the few members of her family who understood her. The two did everything together, and it was to her brother Kito first shared her insecurities. He encouraged her to embrace the creature she was, not the one their father wanted her to be. It was with her brother’s support Kito finally announced to her family her intention to live as a male, rather than a female, and serve her father as the son he would have preferred her to be. Around this time, Kito’s true talents, her great speed and stealthiness, were being developed, and her father saw the wisdom in allowing his daughter to live as a son, so he accepted this resolution and declared it to be so, and from that day forward, everyone in their household recognized Kito as male.
It wasn’t as hard a transition as Kito had believed it would be. His father’s servants were too afraid of Taaz to defy his wishes in this, so they accepted Kito without question. The young wild dog began to focus on his martial training, including use of weaponry, mending armor and smithing, and conditioning his body to be in peak physical form. Kito excelled in this like he never had in his classes on manners and finery. His gift of speed was a trait his father was eager to take advantage of. Taaz began sending his son out to retrieve “lost property” when Kito was still fairly young. Kito, eager to please his father and earn his praise, set about this distasteful work with a great deal of determination. He was good at catching runaway slaves. None could outrun him, he was large, even among male wild dogs, and few could best him in a fight. Over time, Kito won his father’s begrudging respect, and this was the period of his life where he truly flourished.
The course of Kito’s life changed when his father purchased a young slave called Emili. Emili was soft-spoken, shy, and often skittish around everyone, including the other slaves. For this reason, she found it difficult to acclimate to her new master’s household. Even the hardest tasks she had to undertake alone. One day, Kito noticed her struggling to push a keg of ale into the Great Hall for a banquet, and he offered to help. Emili didn’t realize at the time that Kito was the master’s son. After their first encounter, Kito went out of his way to help Emili in little ways. However, she discovered through some of the other slaves who Kito was, and for a time, she avoided him, afraid of his intentions.
He continued to help, though, and she soon realized that, despite who he was and what he did for his father, he was not an unkind soul. Even with all their differences, the two became close friends, and eventually lovers. Emili meant everything to Kito. But ultimately, Kito’s father found out about their relationship, and arranged for Emili to be sold to another master, this one a cruel, brutal nobleman in the north.
Emili, hearing this news, knew there was nothing Kito could do to save her, so she tried to run away along with three other slaves. Taaz sent Kito after her, but didn’t tell him who he’d be bringing back. Kito discovered Emili and the other slaves, to his dismay. He brought them home to his father, silent the whole way, and when they arrived, his father came out to greet them. He said the slave should be made example of. Kito begged his father to be merciful, he even tried to protect Emili, but when he stepped between his father and the slave, his father turned on him and attacked his son viciously, gripping his throat and biting his face. Kito couldn’t stop his father from killing Emili and the other slaves. When he recovered from his wounds, he refused to speak to his father or the other members of his family, who had all looked on and hadn't tried to stop Taaz from killing Kito's lover. Kito booked the first ship he could find to take him away from Kriole. The ship in question took him to the northern continent of Atheraan.
For a time, Kito struggled to make it on his own. He was alone, with no money, no prospects, no family connections he wanted to make use of. But he soon picked up work doing what he did best - tracking down those running from the law. He became rather well known for getting the job done and doing it cleanly. Kito still continues to take jobs where he finds them, though he is selective when it comes to the masters he works for.
