"Dead men don't bite." - Treasure Island
the basics
Name || Captain Khazaan Rubeus Dryden
Nicknames || Captain to pretty much everyone. Denny or Den to his friends.
Age || Twenty-nine
Species || Gold-headed lion tamarin
Gender || Male
Sexuality || Heterosexual
God || Primarily the Goddess of the Sea, does also show some regard for the demigod of chaos, as he is a believer in luck
Birth God || Dryden was first Blessed by his parents' patron god, Cahrohaan, God of Construction.
Gifts || A rather inordinate amount of charisma.
Occupation || Captain of the Dawnstrider
the appearance
Voice Claim || Brian Bloom (Varric Tethras of Dragon Age)
Height & Weight || A little large for his kind, and he's rather muscular, making him a bit heavy. It's not due to his beer gut at all, no, what made you think that?
Identifying Features || Dryden wears his "mane," or the golden-red-orange fur around his face, in many elaborate braids tied with trinkets, coins, beads, etc. His Mark of Sharysaan, the Sea Goddess, is on his right shoulder. The Mark of Cahrohaan, God of Construction, remains faded on his left collar bone after he pledged his allegiance to Sharysaan.
Overall || Dryden has mostly black fur, except for the ring of gold-red-orange around his face and his feet and tail. He's grown an impressive mustache over his rounded lips as well, leaving mostly his nose and round, brown eyes visible as far as his face goes. The captain has a long, torso, broad shoulders, and powerful arms that he uses to swift from the rigging of his ship. While he has quite dexterous hands and feet with which to grab onto things, Dryden can also use his muscular, thick tail in many creative ways, especially in a scrap. For clothes, Dryden is all about the roguish style of a seafarer. He loves wearing leather vests, loose-fitting white shirts, and a stylish, dark hat. Getting either of his two long sabers from the sheath on his back is virtually impossible, and the tamarin has a bit of a paranoid side and prefers to be armed wherever he goes.
the personality
Likes || Ale. Grog. Whiskey. Sake. Soju. Alcohol of any kind. Singing. Baubles. Fancy hats. A good payday.
Dislikes || Stairs. Bathing. Laziness. Law enforcement of any kind. Goody-goody types.
Strengths || Sword-fighting. Card games. Persuasion.
Weaknesses || Mistrusting of others. An unabashed reliance on both alcohol and gambling. Is a terrible climber (and rather embarrassed of the fact).
Dreams || To make money.
Fears || Falling/heights. Doesn't like to talk about it.
Overall || Dryden's mostly a free spirit, laid back, charismatic, unconcerned with the more serious, philosophical matters of life. He's more about good times and getting paid, which is partly why he took up his chosen profession. When it comes to questions about right or wrong, he's more concerned with bottom lines and personal comfort and success. It's not that Dryden doesn't care about others, per se, he just prefers to keep his concern reserved for those he actually cares about. In this sense, he'd be considered a true neutral aligned character, with his motivations mostly revolving around himself, with exceptions for his friends and crew. The tamarin is up for just about any job, and he's not too particular about employers, either. This has led to some scrapes with the law, but Dryden at least knows how to talk (or bluff) his way out of a rough situation. Though he's easygoing with most everyone, Dryden doesn't trust too easily. He tends towards paranoia, and while many animals may claim to be close to him, the tamarin shares few details of his personal life and goals with anyone, believing that one can only rely on oneself.
the history
Father || Sorzen Dryden, 64, Wood-worker

Hometown || Was born on the rainforest outskirts of Evryll, one of Parthaan's cities. Lived in Tenidyr for several years before the Dawnstrider came into his possession.
History || Raised in a family dedicated to the worship of Cahrohaan, the God of Construction, Khazaan never quite fit in during his youth. At the age of thirteen, he ran away from home, hitching a ride on a ship that brought him from a port at the edge of Evryll to the docks of Tenidyr. He worked there for many years, until he was twenty-two. At that point, he managed to win a rather high stakes game of poker that resulted in him acquiring his ship, the Dawnstrider. He became captain of his proud vessel and has since explored the seas with his crew.
