Identifying Features || Alira has sleek, black fur marked with honey-gold in a ring on her chest. The Mark of the Earth Goddess, a green leaf, is plainly visible on her back of her neck. She has a simple, homely face, dark eyes, and a smile that puts others at ease. She has long, limber claws that she makes use of for her pet projects, that is, carving little wooden figurines that she likes to display in her inn. Though Alira has a powerful build, like most bears, she's smaller than other species, only around four feet tall when she stands on her hind legs, but she still can carry herself quite imposingly when she has a need to. 


Clothing ||
Since she works in the kitchens and spends a great deal of her time cleaning up the inn, Alira prefers sensible, plain clothes that she can get dirty without a second thought, so she tends towards loose-fitting cotton shirts and vests, sometimes substituting the vest for an apron if she's cooking or cleaning. 


Weapons ||
Alira prefers talking over confronting, but she's quite handy with any one of her sharpened kitchen knives if the need arises.



the personality

Overall || Alira is laid back, easygoing, and outwardly honest in a way that encourages others to share in return. She definitely has a way with others that she's used to her advantage, especially in terms of gathering information for the Information Broker. A great many animals pass through Alira's inn, and she makes it a point to get to know as many of them as she can. She's not easily flustered, and takes a no-nonsense approach to running her business and controlling her customers when necessary. That being said, most animals never see the stricter, practical side of Alira, as she mostly keeps up a very cheerful, welcoming facade.

Alira is sharp, but prefers to give off the impression that she isn't, which, given her rather simple, homely face, is not a difficult impression to impart on others. Though she tends to keep herself to herself when it comes to her past and her business, Alira is not a cold, closed-off sort. She has an open heart when it comes to those who need her help, and despite the questionable nature of her secret line of work and her private nature, Alira does believe in helping those around her who need her help. That being said, she has very little patience for those who take advantage of others, and she puts a premium on courtesy and generosity that she makes sure her customers uphold while staying at her inn. She keeps a garden and a bee hive behind the inn and finds comfort in partaking of these two hobbies, both of which require that special nurturing touch she's always had.



the history

Family || She never knew her father's name, but her mother's was Ayasa Azaani. Ayasa raised her daughter and Alira's two siblings, a brother, Ahn, and a sister, Aria, on her own.



Important People || Though she's not exactly a pet, Alira does have an Unmarked raven who visits her as she will. The raven delivers messages for Alira, and the two have a special bond. She gets offended when people refer to the raven as her "pet." Alira calls the raven "Aachi." 



Hometown || Alira was born and raised in a small town west of Tenidyr, but she left at a young age and traveled to the city of Evryll, where she's lived ever since in her inn, which she named the Paper Lantern Inn.



History || Alira, Ahn, and Aria were born in a small village outside of Tenidyr to a young sun bear named Ayasa. Ayasa never spoke of the cubs' father, and she worked to raise her three children on her own with no shortage of bitterness at her situation. She was an absentminded, inattentive mother, and as the cubs grew, it became increasingly apparent she did not care for them enough to tend to their emotional needs. While Ayasa provided shelter and food to her progeny, she couldn't be bothered to soothe them when they cried or nurse them when they were sick. Alira began to see this indifference early on in her life, and she began taking care of her siblings as best she could, trying to fulfill the role of mother that Ayasa did not seem concerned with in the least.

During her teen years, Alira began to find interactions with her mother nearly impossible. Ayasa disliked that Alira pretended she was the caretaker of her siblings, and mother and daughter often fought over this fact and the responsibilities that Alira assumed in the household. When Alira turned eighteen, she determined that she could no longer bear living in that family, and she ran away, traveling a great distance to the city of Ervyll, where she began a new life as a barmaid.

She performed the job quite well, and with her trustworthy face and kind, nurturing nature she gained the trust of many of the animals that came into the tavern. Over many years, she saved money, worked hard, and eventually had enough to open her own inn, the Paper Lantern. Her inn became a popular resting place for travelers, and her reputation as a fair and trustworthy proprietor gained her some esteem from the locals. Eventually, she was approached and asked to become a part of Silas Avillio's information network. At first, Alira wasn't sure she would suit such a profession, but she accepted, if only in the hopes of making more money out of the deal which she could then put into her inn and her "pet projects" (namely, her charity cases).
