Their primary goal is the spreading of knowledge and Truth. Honesty, integrity, and morality are important to them, as well as a desire for learning and personal growth. Some of the Starwatchers receive dreams or visions from Esera, hints of past and future or insights into the world around them, and these Blessed individuals are often taken into the priesthood to provide wisdom and guidance to all those who seek Esera's Truth.
Ranks:
High Priest/Priestess - The leader of the temple, performs many of the ceremonies of Esera, most often an individual Blessed with visions or keen senses by their goddess.
Priest/Priestess - Oftentimes those Blessed with insight, visions, dreams, or a thirst for truth are appointed as priests and priestesses. They are given a special role in the temple to accompany the high priest/priestess in performing various ceremonies/consulting together on omens and other visions.
Provisioner - An individual tasked with obtaining any materials/food/items needed by those in the temple. One of the few jobs that requires they travel from the temple for great lengths of time.
Farmer - Those among the order that tend to the gardens and fields, growing food to help sustain the temple.
Scribe - These individuals are responsible for writing about the various events, ceremonies, visions, and dreams that the priest/priestesses pass down to them. They work with scholars to preserve knowledge and to obtain books from around the world.
Scholar - Those in charge of maintaining the library. They study together, consult the positioning of the Stars to predict events, and in general work to record and preserve knowledge. Sometimes they travel beyond the temple to obtain new books or reference material.
Shaman - Those of sensitive ability, can see spirits and in a sense manipulate the energy around them. Shaman usually have stronger powers than even a priest/priestess, but their powers are difficult to control, and so they meditate and study together to learn to control their powers. They are not often asked to attend ceremonies, unless the ceremony in question requires a great deal of power to be exerted.
Monk - These individuals are tasked with the upkeep of the temple. They basically make sure everything and anything is done, including cooking, cleaning, organizing events, etc.
Rules: Anyone may join the temple if they are willing to commit themselves to a life of service to Truth and to the Goddess Esera. It is a great commitment, and one the monks and priests of the temple take seriously. If at any time a member wishes to leave, they are free to do so, as Esera believes that all creatures should be free to make their own decisions about how they will live and whom they will serve.
The following are some of the rules/standards that those in the temple follow:
1. Those in the temple must take a vow of Truth. No lie must pass through the lips of a follower of Esera. If the Truth would harm, it is best to stay silent.
2. Knowledge is to be shared. No follower must keep to themselves any bit of knowledge that may benefit others.
3. No one creature is above the other. All must be treated with respect and love. Conflict is to be resolved without delay.
