Clothing || She only ever wears a simple black cloak in colder climates



Weapons || Doesn't carry any.  Carien is more the healer type, and can make rapid disappearances, but she is well versed in poisons in case worst comes to worst.





the personality

Overall || Carien has somewhat of an odd personality and belief system, and it's well suited to her appearance.  Aye-ayes are often seen as omens of death, and perhaps that's why her birth god was the god of death.  But she didn't grow up learning that life and death were opposed.

She's a friendly, if solitary, creature.  She likes to be as helpful as possible, and tends to hoard things, but would give you the cloak off her back if you needed it.  She places value in friendship, and enjoys company, but is very strongly introverted, and with the added gift of empathy, being around other creatures can be tedious and exhausting.

She tends to stay in trees as much as possible, and can be incredibly difficult to find.  But, if you are in her vicinity, and you are really suffering, keep your eyes peeled at night.  She will seek you out, and do her best to help, but if she can't, she'll give you the choice.

History || 
Aye-ayes are well known as an omen of death, and so it makes sense that this family of aye-ayes would pay homage to the god of death.  But Carien doesn't see death as a vengeful, hateful thing.  She doesn't see it as the opposite of life. 

The Mrithun that Carien knows the god of a merciful death. How else would he have had a child like Nehrune, goddess of Mercy? Certainly not because of love, for love can be ruthless, manipulative, and very unfair. But death? Death comes to everyone, eventually.



So, she learned how to make the act of death more merciful. Made it a gift, instead of a curse. And that's how she views it. A gift to be bestowed upon those now suffering in life.



In her pursuit to end the suffering of others, she gained the approval of Marainen, and eventually, the gift of healing. If she is able to heal, she will, and she often can. For if it alleviates suffering, then that's the best option. But for those too far gone, those who can no longer be healed, the gift of a swift and merciful death awaits. And that's where she gained the approval of Nehrune. Nehrune brings peace and comfort, and is fair and just with everyone, just as Carien tries to be.
