the appearance
Voice Claim || Iain Glen (Jorah - GOT)
Identifying Features || Jorah is a large, powerfully built creature who stands a bit above ten feet on his hind legs. Though he does not appear at first glance to be built for speed, Jorah is surprisingly agile, able to run faster than most and turn about with stunning ferocity in battle. His left foreleg is riddled in scars from a knife that stretch up to his shoulder and across part of his chest. He bears the mark of Kohriander, God of the Sun, across his breast here, with the double mark of Nehrune overlapping in its center, a rare combination of Marks. The small, faded black feather Mark of Mrithun, god of death, remains under his right eye as testament to a life he abandoned long ago.
Clothing || Jorah doesn’t tend to wear clothing besides a thick brown cloak and a leather breastplate protecting his neck and heart from any attacks.
Weapons || Jorah has little need of weapons - he has his claws and his fire to do most of the work for him. But he keeps a sword strapped to his breastplate all the same.
the personality
Overall || Jorah is at times gruff and frank, having seen enough winters to know a thing or two about the world. He’s got a dry sense of humor and tends to approach most things in life with a certain degree of skepticism. That being said, he has a great amount of faith in his young charge, Kaidia, for she brought him purpose and certainty where he had none. Jorah has moments of wisdom born from experience, but he has a tendency towards choosing practicality over morality. The ex-assassin is not above killing others to get what he wants - and especially to protect Kaidia. He has a deep respect and affection for her, and anyone who stands in the way of her goals is a fair target for him. That being said, he does not revel in death. He sees it as a necessary end, but does not worship it as he was led to do at one time in his life. That time has passed. Thanks to Kaidia, he now serves Mercy and has restored his faith in the power of the Sun that he had at one time in his life forsaken.
the history
Family || Father: Jon Almont. Black bear. Deceased. Mother: Mara Almont. Grizzly bear. Presumed alive. Sister: Sri Almont. Presumed alive.
Important People || Kaidia, his charge whom he serves with great loyalty.
Hometown || Lynaera Rainforest
History || Jorah was born into a prominent family in the rainforest of Lynaera. His parents were both worshipers of the Sun and Moon, and the these gods blessed Jorah and his sister, Sri, with great power. To Sri, the Goddess of the Moon granted the ability to sense truth and deceit in others. To Jorah, the Sun granted the power of fire and strength. Sri grew up to be wise and learned, using her powers to help. Jorah boasted in his strength and grew to be one of the greatest fighters of his clan.
When he came of age, it was a natural decision for Jorah to enlist into King Auryn’s army in the hopes of being appointed to his royal guard. He did well in military life, fighting for the crown and maintaining peace in the king’s name. One of his superiors, a panther called Odon, took an interest in Jorah and began presenting him with more “covert” operations - the opportunity to prove himself capable of stealth as well as strength. Eventually, Odon allowed Jorah into his secret world of assassins, but Jorah only ever experienced one side of it, the side Odon presented as a noble calling of the assassins to work as hands of the king, their targets threatening the peace that King Auryn wished to maintain. Jorah believed in Odon’s words and he followed his command, even forsaking his duty to the Sun that he had worshiped since childhood in favor of serving the God of Death. His strength abandoned him, the great fire that he'd always known leaving him bereft, but he still followed, wholly consumed with Odon's imaginings of a brighter world. That is, until the day his master’s true natural was revealed to him by Odon’s daughter.
Jorah was sent with two of Odon’s other favored assassins to retrieve his daughter after a great accident befell his family. At least, Odon had claimed it was an accident. Kaidia revealed, however, that Odon had murdered his wife and his son. The assassin’s guild that Jorah had believed fought for the crown was not above killing innocents - and Odon’s lies were revealed to Jorah. He could not stand beside the assassins as they attached Kaidia, so he stood and fought for her, suffering many wounds until he was too weak to stand against them. The assassins left him and Kaidia for dead. Jorah still managed to carry Kaidia away from there. Thanks to the work of a healer who happened upon them, they survived, but Jorah’s left foreleg was forever scarred by the encounter.
When Jorah and Kaidia recovered, he smuggled her away from the capital, wanting to keep her safe and on the move. He took to calling her Kailyssi as a sort of nickname, combining the two names she’d come up with for herself. Together, the two have traveled far side by side, and only time can tell what will become of them in their adventures.
Kaidia has helped heal the rift Jorah felt with his god, and he has since regained the gifts that Kohriander had taken away. Jorah no longer serves Death, and in Death's place he has accepted Mercy as his Goddess.
