The cool ocean waves washed over Wisteria as she swam leisurely just below the surface of the water. Today, she had no packages to deliver. For the time being, she intended on attending to her other self imposed job. As it were, she was searching for animals in trouble as she lazed about. She was in now rush. Her blue eyes washing over the surrounding waters.
A few ospreys occasionally flew past her on their way to who knows where, likely to land. With a blow, she surfaced, her gaze directed at the faraway land masses. At times, she wondered what it was like on land. Being a creature of the seas, she would never be able to walk among the land dwellers.
Taking a breath, she dived below the waters surging deep into the ocean. Making a u-turn, she broke the surface in a spy hop. The spy hop lifting her gaze well above the surface. Looking around, she noted the surroundings with slight boredom. The seas were strangely quiet. The silence created a wave of loneliness for the whale. Slipping back into the water, Wisteria began swimming north to Parthaan. 192 WORDS TAGs Wisteria first post! THANK YOU MALIA TATE FROM ADOXOGRAPHY

Clear, vibrant blue stretched out on all sides, and below, the vibrant splashes of color spread across the coral reefs, dotted here and there with fish whose scales shimmered brighty whenever a beam of sunlight from the world above shot through the water and touched them. The Blessed swam about in predictable patterns, always moving to a rhythm and pulse that Uana Li couldn’t quite understand. When she swam, she moved through the water haphazardly, no patterns, no interest in the monotony and rhythm of the other sea creatures. She craved change, excitement, the quest, the find.
And boy did she have a lot to find. Uana Li ran through the list in her head, the number of crates, various goods tossed overboard during a storm and left abandoned to save the life of a ship’s crew. And now the crates sat somewhere at the bottom of the sea, lost to the creatures of the upper world, but not lost to her, oh no, never to her. There was nothing Uana Li couldn’t find. If it was out there and not eaten by some shark with a questionable appetite, she’d find it.
An itch at her shoulder alerted Uana Li to her octopus pet’s insistence to be dropped. He always did that when he needed to relieve himself, and she’d learned to be quick about freeing him or risk having him do his business all over her back. As soon as the octopus was left on the sandy sea floor, Uana Li shot up to the surface, straining her muscles until she shot out of the water into the bright sunlight. The dolphin let out a thrilled series of squeaks and then dove back down into the ocean.
For a moment she hung there, staring about her at the reefs and the bright blue see. Then she noticed a dark shadow, a huge shape that moved slowly but with surety through the water. Curious, Uana Li dipped down to pick up Omu and then made her way closing to the huge figure.
It was a blue whale, she saw, one of the largest creatures that existed to her knowledge. Uana Li swam towards the whale and wondered what she looked for, as she seemed to be looking about her with interest, not swimming with the aimless purpose of the everyday-the-same, routine-oriented fish below.
“Ahoy, friend, what’s it you’re searching for? Perhaps I can be of assistance. I’m good at finding things,” Uana Li said, unable to hide her enthusiasm at the idea of having another item to find in the endless oceans spread out before her. It didn’t matter how many jobs she took on, she always finished them all. There wasn’t a single thing she hadn’t found, not anything, she would never give up until she’d tracked down whatever it was any creature wanted her to find. Maybe this whale needed something found, too.

Wisteria trundled along, her blue gaze wandering over the ocean questioningly. As big as she was, the whale still made sure to pay close attention to the smaller creatures. Though most made way for her large form, a few would fail to notice her at times. that being the case, she always move with a deliberate care and attention. As such, she was quick to notice the approach of a dolphin.
"Ahoy, friend, what's it you're searching for? Perhaps I can be of assistance. I'm good at finding things."
Focusing her eye on the creature, Wisteria examined them with care. Her large size caused her to miss small details at times, she wished that not to be the case. Wisteria noted the presence of an octopus clinging to the dolphin. "Hello there. I am not so much looking for something as I am hoping not to find something." Slowing her pace, Wisteria spoke again, "I am seeking out any stranded travelers or endangered ships." Sweeping her gaze over the ocean once more, the whale continued, "So that I may ferry them to shore and heal them if they are hurt." Looking at the dolphin, she worried if they might get swept away by her large form if she wasn't careful enough. That being the case, she took care in her movements. The blue whale, whether by nature or design, moved very slowly as she turned to regard Uana Li. Many dolphins and other sea creatures might’ve been daunted by the creature’s size, but Uana Li didn’t care about things like that. She knew that blue whales didn’t eat curious dolphins, and besides, this one had a kindly sort of face.
Her words confused Uana Li at first - not looking for something, but hoping to find it? Or maybe she was looking for some general? The dolphin remained silent and waited for the whale to elaborate, and she did, thankfully.
“Ah, a fellow good samaritan, then,” Uana Li chirped. The dolphin swam in a loop, her pace easy going, though Omu seemed to be annoyed with her movements as the octopuses’ tentacles tightened their grip. “There was a ship wrestling with these waters that dropped some cargo. I’m trying to find it. But the ship itself survived the storm. I haven’t come across anyone currently in peril.” The dolphin looked the whale up and down, curious. Was it a lucrative trade, rescuing those lost at sea? She supposed it must be. Creatures did tend to be generous when they owed a life debt. Gods, they were generous enough just paying for lost goods, potentially lost lives must be all the more precious. Uana Li didn’t think she’d like that sort of search, though. There wasn’t a guarantee that something was out there to be found, after all. Could be that across the oceans and seas of Paradiastole there wasn’t a single creature in need of help. That sort of search wouldn’t be as rewarding, the dolphin thought.
“I’m Uana Li, by the way. Ua for short. Life’s short. I’ve got lots of things to find in that time.” The dolphin let out a squeak of laughter. She began swimming away, satisfied that the large whale didn’t have anything that needed finding.

The dolphin seemed confused by Wisteria's words. It seemed though that she eventually found a resolution to her confusion.
"There was a ship wrestling with these waters that dropped some cargo. I'm trying to find it. But the ship itself survived the storm. I haven't come across anyone currently in peril."
Wisteria reacted with surprise. She had not heard of any ships caught in storms. The dolphin stated that the ship had survived but she had said nothing of the sailors. A few might have fallen overboard and swept off. They could be in trouble. If the storm wasn't too long ago than they were likely still alive. If they were hurt than she needed to get to them quick. Wisteria needed to find them before it was too late. Before she could ask the location of where the ship had been caught though, the dolphin had swam off with a short introduction.
Wisteria reacted with surprise at Uana's sudden departure. With panic, Wisteria turned towards Uana, trying not to stir the waters too much with her movements. "Wait a moment, Uana, Please tell me what happened to the ship and its riders. How long ago was it? Did they all make it to shore okay? Was it just cargo that went overboard?" Wisteria thought the dolphin a bit peculiar for leaving so quickly. Might they be on a tight schedule perhaps or was it just their nature? THANK YOU MALIA TATE FROM ADOXOGRAPHY

Uana Li had already begun her search again when the whale’s voice beckoned her to return. The dolphin flipped around in the water, moving with ease and grace, though she winced a bit as Omu’s tentacles gripped her almost painfully tight as she whirled around and swam back in Wisteria’s direction.
“Aye, just cargo,” the dolphin replied, speaking rather quickly. She felt the undeniable itch to be off searching and didn’t have much patience for questions. “The captain didn’t report any lives lost, and the storm was nearly a week ago. He requested a track down his cargo, if possible, but it’s likely to be buried by ocean sands by now. Makes the hunt all the sweeter.” The dolphin felt Omu shift. The mimic octopus’ skin turned a fiery red, as if he were agreeing with Uana Li’s words.
“Don’t know about anyone who needs help, as I said, and I’ve got to find that cargo,” the dolphin added, speaking quickly, her movements fidgety. She always got twitchy when in the midst of a search. Every moment she wasn’t looking weighed on her mind until she couldn’t stop moving, couldn’t think about anything but finding whatever it was she was looking for. At this moment, her mind was already leagues away, trying to guess where the cargo would be based on the star charts the captain had recited, but those didn’t take into account the currents, how much sand could cover the crates in a week, would any of it be salvageable in the end…?

Wisteria sighed with relief. Her sigh caused a few bubbles to leave her mouth. "That is good, that is good to hear," Wisteria commented to herself. She could see that Uana was quite jittery at the moment. It seemed she was anxious to continue her work. She smiled seeing Uana so. Wisteria and her family always moved at a slow pace due to their large size. It would surprise her quite a bit to see any of her family acting the way Uana was currently. Wisteria laughed, she found herself wanting to spend some time with this creature that moved so much faster than herself.
"Might I offer my help in your search? Though I do not know if I will be of much use." Her large frame would likely be an impediment at times but she figured she could help in moving large cargo or digging up something buried deep in the sand. She did have some experience doing that after all. She often moved downed ships that had sunk to the bottom of the ocean, as long as they weren't too much larger than herself that is. Though she may not have much experience finding small objects, she could move larger ones with ease. 206 WORDS Wisteria's posts seem inclined to brevity THANK YOU MALIA TATE FROM ADOXOGRAPHY

Was it good? Uana Li supposed so. She did not really think much about the sailors, if the captain had mentioned one falling overboard during the storm, she probably would not have remembered. Unless the captain had asked her to find his bones at the bottom of the sea. Then she might have cause to recall.
“Certainly you may help, if you wish,” Ua replied. “I am sure you are much used to finding small things in large spaces, helping with shipwrecks and drowning sailors,” the dolphin added with a mild squeak of amusement. She did not think overmuch about the fate of said sailors. Her mind remained on the search, her entire focus directed towards the cargo she must find.
“There are seven crates in all, though some may have been damaged. The captain was transporting weapons and armor to Parthaan, as I understand it, so if any fell out they’d at least cause a bit of a glimmer, I should think. Depends on how far they sank.” The dolphin’s words were a flurry, her mind racing as she gazed about her at the ocean. Omu, the octopus attached to her back like a rucksack, began toying with the straps of her leather harness. She didn’t mind. Uana Li knew the octopus wouldn’t open the pouches on the harness or undo the buckles unless she directed him to. He was better trained than that.

"Certainly you may help, if you wish. I am sure you are much used to finding small things in large spaces, helping with shipwrecks and drowning sailors."
Uana had seemed to laugh at her remark. It worried Wisteria a little as the dolphin seemed to value little the lives of the sailors. But if that was the way Uana was than she would not try to change her. Wisteria knew not everyone valued the same things as her and had long learned to respect other's opinion even if she disagreed.
"There are seven crates in all, though some may have been damaged. The captain was transporting weapons and armor to Parthaan, as I understand it, so if any fell out they'd at least cause a bit of a glimmer, I should think. Depends on how far they sank."
Wisteria made a small nod in acknowledgement. "I will let you know if I find anything," Wisteria replied as she prepared to dive. Clearing the water for a breath with a blow, Wisteria prepared for a dive to search out the items. As far as she knew, they shouldn't be that deep in the waters. At least, in her experience they never were that deep down. Then again, she was used to finding large ships and live animals not small crates and armor. With her echolocation, she searched the sand for abnormal shapes. THANK YOU MALIA TATE FROM ADOXOGRAPHY

Uana Li gave a squeak of approval when the whale began to move, and in a dash, Ua followed and began swimming towards the reefs, her eyes looking out for any odd shapes or glimmers in the water that might give away the location of any of the lost cargo. It never occurred to her to wonder whether or not leaving armor and weapons at the bottom of the sea may be a better thing, rather than let them be sold in Parthaan to be put into the hands of soldiers fighting some great civil war in the land above. Such thoughts didn’t occur to the dolphin. All she cared about was that someone had lost something, and she was going to find it.
A glimmer of silver drew the dolphin’s attention. She darted towards it, Omu clinging all the way, and then Ua swooped down and peered closely. Bits of crate remained buried in the sand, but a few swords betrayed the location of the buried cargo.
“Found something at last!” Uana Li squeaked happily. She frowned. “But I suppose it might be buried deep. That does mean some digging for us, doesn’t it, Omu?” The dolphin sighed. She didn’t like digging. She didn’t like it at all.

Wisteria searched the seabeds intently. What had been dropped were items that she considered less savory and would have liked to leave among the fish. It displeased her to know that animals fought among each other so readily. Wisteria had learned a long time ago that they were needed though. It was part of the reason why she always waited before interrupting ongoing sea battles. It seemed the dolphin cared little for the uses of the items though. Those of the sea were often disconnected with those above. It was like they lived in two separate worlds at times. Uana's attitude was only natural. Uana's chatter soon drew her attention. It seemed the little creature had found something.
"Have you found something?" Wisteria asked looking towards the location that seemed to catch the dolphin's attention. It seemed the cargo buried some ways deep. It would some amount of digging to remove it for sure. She had done little digging in her searching since they were usually for partially buried ships. A little bit of shaking was all it took to dislodge them most times. She had never attempted to dig up something buried as deeply as these were. Hopefully it wasn't too much of a worry. 206 WORDS Sorry for the LATENESS, it has been busy THANK YOU MALIA TATE FROM ADOXOGRAPHY

Looking up as the whale swam closer, Uana Li let out an eager squeak. “Yes, yes! Weapons. It seems as though the first of the crates dropped here. Don’t know how far down the crates could be buried, but usually means a few hours’ diggin’ for me and Omu here.”
After a brief pause, the dolphin began to look Wisteria up and down with an expression that could only be described as calculating. “I don’t suppose you’re any good at digging with that big nose of yours?” Ua asked finally, her blunt way of speaking making quite an impact paired with her frank, open expression. The dolphin swam in little circles around the cache of weapons she’d discovered, her movements fluid but quick, her impatience clear in every gesture. Omu waved one of his tentacles about comically, his color shifting around from red to green to black as he clung onto Uana Li in an effort not to fall off.

It seemed the items were weapons to the disappointment of Wisteria. She had rather that the weapons had not been found but it could not be helped. They needed to return everything they found, the weapons were no exception.
Wisteria was taken aback some by the sudden bluntness of Uana. The dolphin's excited nature was quite different from the one she now displayed. She supposed everyone had a different side to them but Uana's seemed quite polarizing. Everyone had one of those side though she supposed. In a way, it would have been more bizarre if Uana didn't. "I have only ever dug up partly buried ships. I am not sure how I would do removing items of that size. They are far smaller than I am used to." Watching Uana swing in circles was slightly disorientating for Wisteria. She wondered about asking Uana to stop or at least down. Seeing as she wasn't quite sure how that would affect the jittery creature, she left it as is. "I will do my best to dig it up regardless." THANK YOU MALIA TATE FROM ADOXOGRAPHY

Buried ships must be fun to dig up, Ua thought. She’d certainly searched her fair share of wrecks for lost items, but it was beyond the dolphin’s power to pull the wreckage itself up to the surface, unless she were to do so one plank at a time. It must be wondrous to be so large and so strong. Wondrous, but probably ineffective in Uana Li’s line of work, considering the blue whale’s very words that she may have difficulty with items of this particular size.
Uana Li gave a shrill chirp of approval nonetheless, slowing her movements as she saw the whale’s eyes dart try and mostly fail to follow her about. She didn’t want to disorient the larger creature, so she remained mostly still, however hard it was for her to do so. “If you would be so kind as to simply shove this mound of sand to the side, I can scour it for the smaller pieces. So long as I can make sure nothing is buried too deep, we should be good.”

Wisteria was relieved when Uana slowed her frantic swimming and remained in one place. It was much easier for Wisteria than trying to follow a quick moving, smaller creature. She often had difficulty conversing with the smaller creatures when they kept darting around. At times, some wouldn't bother stopping and Wisteria would just give up.
Uana's idea brought to attention that Wisteria didn't have to remove all the sand, that would be quite the difficult task for one of her size, she just needed to remove enough so that Uana could get to it. The finer details could be left to Uana, all Wisteria had to do take out the bigger chunks.
"Of course," Wisteria replied somewhat curtly. Wisteria began digging, pushing out large chunks of the sand in droves, careful not to be hit by any of the protruding blades. Pushing the loose sand to the side, she packed it in a bit so that it wouldn't fall back into the hole. After uncovering a fair amount of sand, the cargo could be seen sticking out of the floor. Wisteria backed off to let Uana do the rest. THANK YOU MALIA TATE FROM ADOXOGRAPHY
